Semana Santa kicked off in Santo Domingo as planned, with a Palm Sunday or Domingo de Ramos procession through the streets of the Colonial City, re-enacting the arrival of Jesus into Nazareth.

Here’s a photo of the Roman Guards who headed the procession as is traditionally done.
